Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, prepare, and review legal documents with precision, ensuring accuracy

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Bar in Prince Edward Island

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and make sound legal decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional approach to client and colleague interactions

Pay: From $85,000-$120,000.00 per year

Legal Assistant

We are seeking a Legal Assistant for an immediate opening who is interested in joining our team and providing our clients with exceptional, timely service. We offer a competitive salary based on experience and a number of employee benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Email and calendar management, scheduling and preparing for meetings
  • Maintaining a bring forward system and providing appropriate reminders
  • Preparing, formatting & editing various correspondence and legal documents
  • Communicating with clients
  • Opening and closing files
  • Ensuring electronic and paper filing is kept up to date and organized
  • Transcribing dictated information
  • Coordinating with other assistants to foster a team environment
  • Providing backup coverage in the absence of other assistants
  • Other duties, as may be required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to provide a professional and friendly experience for clients
  • Understanding of legal terminology and documents
  • Understanding of the confidential nature of a law firm
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, work with tight deadlines and to reassess and adapt to changing priorities
  • Highly organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong typing skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Successful completion of a Legal Administration, Administrative Assistant or Office Administration program or related field, or previous experience in a related field
  • Computer skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook), Adobe, Windows

Pay: $40,000-$60,000. Salary will be based on experience.
